Acer Aspire 4710

Got my laptop last sunday. Been lazy to blog something for awhile…
Here’s the specs:
Intel Core Duo T2350 (1.86GHz, 533MHz FSB, 2MB L2 cache)
14.1″ WXGA Acer CrystalBrite LCD
Mobile Intel GMA 950
2 GB DDR2 (Added 1Gb ddr2 to make it 2 GB)
80GB HDD
DVD-Super Multi DL
802.11 abg WLAN
The annoying thing here is that it would not shut down the unit whenever I press the power button(already set to auto-shut down when power button being pressed) and I had to hold the power button for 5 seconds when the “Windows is shutting down” screen appears. This also applies when restarting the unit. And lately, when I close the lid and it would activate standby mode, It would hang on “Preparing standby mode” screen and again, I have to completely power it off… I heard there are people who had the same problem as mine. Shipping it back for a check-up is a pain. Any idea what the f***ing hell is wrong with this?!
Huh, I sorta kinda had a similar problem where my laptop would NEVER turn off. Like, I have to pull the battery to keep it off, or it just remained on standby.
Wouldn’t the laptop go dead if it goes on?… I had to hold the power button for 5 seconds to turn it off but of course, I have to wait for the HDD led indicator to stop blinking before doing it… Any solutions?
Hello, guys I also encounter same problem and found out a solution for the moment… it seems that the problem was the driver for the webcam, which I think is not compatible to window xp, so that’s the reason why my laptop doesn’t shut down, I’ve tried unstalling it and Wahhhlaaa… its working fine again
hope it will help you
Hi. Thanks for the tip. Using Vista home premium at the moment. the laptop only shuts down properly when a usb harddrive is connected to the laptop. My aunt also said something like that as she called the company asking the problem.
Hi,
Bought the exact laptop and I too am experiencing problems “not shutting down” and also the speaker on laptop is too low.
Hey fedmich. Just reformatted and installed the laptop yesterday. Didn’t include the Webcam software cuz that was the cause of the problem. Got no problem now. Just try to uninstall the webcam program.
